For those of you who don't know, I have left the Surgical Tech program. The hours they wanted me to work and the local were not going to work with me and my family. I spent much time praying about it before I made the decision to withdraw and I really think this is what is best for my family. For better or worse I am a wife and mommy first. However, I am starting up classes again next semester and will be continuing working towards an associates of science degree. So fret not. The long term goal was always to get my AAS, so I am just cutting out the the middle trip. :)
I am, however, really enjoying having this semester off. Things are working out well and I am so happy to be able to spend time with my kids and not worrying about homework or classes or anything like that. I have had time to clean and cook and play with the kids. I am also working closely with a friend of mine, helping to promote a line of clothing. You can read about that on my other blog though. I am also looking to start up a girls paintball team, again, more to come on my other blog. :)
I have started the kids on their summer work, but we are pretty laid back about it. I think we will actually get some done today though. They are loving it! Gwen is doing really well on 4th grade level stuff and Annabelle is really quite good at math, like her sister. We are struggling a little with reading still, but she'll get it eventually. William refuses to be left out of the homework loop so we have him doing pre-k stuff...he is only 3!! Smart little man!!

Shopping with the kids
Yesterday we took the kids shopping to spend all their birthday money. It was a long day, let me tell you. Good, but long! We started off at Target and the girls looked through the clothes, and Annabelle wanted everything. Then we moved on to toys, where they both wanted the most expensive toys they could find. William wanted ALL of the trucks. Finally. Gwen decided that she wanted to take all of her money to the bookstore, because she also had a gift card. Smart girl. Annabelle found a Barbie that she loved and it was in her price range, and William settled for a giant truck. So they went to check out and the little ones just HAD to pay for their toys on their own. So Phil handed them each some cash and let them pay, they were very proud of themselves.
After that we headed to Chuck E. Cheese to let Gwen use her gift cards and have lunch. We love CEC. So Phil took the kids to start spending tokens. We ate lunch, played lots of games, then left....the leaving story? The lady who stamps that glow in the dark ink when you come in did a great job of stamping the kids, not so great on us. They couldn't find the matching number on our arm. SO they ask our kids who we were. Gwen was soooooo not paying attention...but finally answered the question.
We made one more stop, then headed to the book store. Gwen shopped for a while and settled on Chronicles of Narnia and Little Women.Let me remind you, she is 8. I was proud! THEN it was time to go home. We went swimming, Phil made hamburgers. It was great. After dinner we went to Garden Ridge and bought the girls new bed sets. Zebra stripes..so cute!! So all in all a nice day, just really long. The kids had a great time though and everyone was pretty well behaved. :)

Beach day
We took the kids to the beach yesterday! Lots of fun was had by all! We visited the Galveston visitors center and the kids got to put a pin in the map. They really enjoyed that part. Then we headed off to the beach. The water was nice, it was warm and the waves were gentle enough for the kids to play in. We spent lots of time looking for shells, and finding some nice ones, and playing in the water. A super nice day! Our kids love the beach, they don't care which one it is. They love the water and the sand and just being out there. My little beach bums! Looking forward to vacation time in FL! Bring on the white sand and blue water! It's gonna be awesome!

Busy,busy,busy!
So we have been CRAZY busy here!! I started my surgical tech classes in January, YAY! And am currently on a three week break. I will be just about half way done when I go back. So that has taken a lot of time, and starting in June will take more since my clinical hours will get longer. EEEK! I have been doing lots of studying and working, ya know, for free! But hopefully I will be able to finish this year, graduate and get my certification and be done with it all! I enjoyed my first rotations in the hospital, I was in an Orthopedic hospital. Looking forward to where ever I am going next!
William recently turned three years old! Yay! My little boy is so grown up! He wants us to call him a big boy now, not a baby. He likes nerf guns and paintball, a lot! Gwen finished her school year about two weeks ago, so we are starting summer school stuff now. She will be moving on to the fourth grade this year! I can't believe that, she is growing up so fast! Annabelle has started Kindergarten, and we aren't rushing anything. Annabelle realllly works at her own pace and rushing her just doesn't work. So we have taken it slow. We will see how the rest of the year pans out for her.
Phil and I have re entered the world of paintball. We love it and I didn't realize how much I missed it until we started playing again. We now play for DeadHorse with our friends from way back in the day! It's been great! I am learning how to play tournament style and REALLLLLY am looking forward to someday playing in my first tournament! We take the kids out to the field with us generally, unless we have team practice, and they really enjoy coming out and watching. Gwen likes to take my mask and stand on the sidelines and watch. She isn't old enough to play, but she can watch as long as one of us is with her. William THINKS he is big enough to play and gets really angry when he can't go onto the field. Annabelle, she likes to play in the dirt and break paintballs. I love that they love the sport and am looking forward to watching them learn how to play!
So that's all for now, I am sure that I will think of more that I want to share with you all later!!!

Still here
Yes folks, I'm still here! It's been really busy. I've been working on school stuff, taking bootcamp at church, homeschooling...the usual.
So the good news is that I made the Surgical Tech program! Yay! But that opens another problem, needing to find a nanny. So pray for us that we find one. I am almost done with this round of classes though, and then I get a little break.
I have been running 3 plus miles a couple days a week now! Whoo! I have made my goal of 5k distance, now I need to work on my time. It's exciting stuff.
There are a lot of frustrating things going on in my life right now. I am conflicted about some things I am involved in at church. I just don't know how to deal with it or if it's worth it hang around and never be used.I'd say more, but can't right now, I will let you know what I decide to do. This nanny/school stuff is really stressful. I am afraid that I am going to have to drop out because I can't find someone. All that hard work will be for nothing if that happens. I am praying about it and looking and emailing, but so far, nothing.
I AM leading worship for the kids this Sunday! Yay! It's going to be fun! Phil is hosting for us as well! Super fun to have him working with us!

Time vs. Distance
On Fridays I change up my run a little. I try to give up my time for distance. I had run a mile and a quarter all week and yesterday I did a mile and a half. It took 20 minutes and 10 seconds. I ran a mile and a quarter in 18 min and 54 seconds, longer than it took me the rest of the week, but since I increased my distance, so it's ok. Anyone else do that? Do you ever give up time to go further? So next week I will be working on improving my mile and a half time. I may have to work on this for more than one week, so next Friday I probably won't do my time vs. distance.
I also need to change my play list on my mp3 player. I actually think I do better without music, but want a good playlist so that when I do use it, I don't feel like just stopping when I'm tired. I love the music that's on it now, but I think I need something a little faster for now.
So, tell me a little about your workout routine. What are you working on, what routines are you doing? I am running every day, except the weekends, and doing p90x in the evenings.
